It takes around 6 hours to drive over the Ica Desert from Nazca to the city. Unfortunately, there are no trains or aircraft that go to Nazca, so the only way to get to the incredible geoglyphs is via bus. The renowned city is accessible to travelers because to the several daily bus routes that pass through it.
How to Get to Nazca Lines From Lima
The well-known Pan-American Highway is followed along the country’s coastline on the bus route that departs from the capital and travels to the city of Nazca.
The coastal town of Paracas and Huacachina, the only unspoiled desert oasis in the Americas, are popular destinations for service providers to take a break. Since it could take up to 7 hours to travel directly from Lima to Nazca, stopping at a few scenic locations along the way might be a great way to break up the trip.
How to Get to Nazca Lines From Cusco
Another option is to take a direct bus from Cusco to Nazca. Nazca is actually a frequent bus stop between Cusco and Lima because it shortens the otherwise daylong trip. The majority of buses traveling from Cusco to Lima make a stop in Nazca, including those operated by Cruz del Sur, which has two daily departures.
Although many of the departures are overnight, a bus will be making the trip once every hour. The route to Nazca and Lima from Arequipa, as per the previous option, is preferred by many travelers because it is better than the road from Cusco to Arequipa (and from there onto Nazca and Lima).
How to Get to Nazca Lines From Arequipa
Due to its central location between Arequipa and Lima, Nazca can be easily added to a return trip to the city. On the excellent Carretera Panamericana Sur, private transfers are possible, though they can be pricey given the distance.
The bus ride takes between ten and twelve hours, depending on the operator. Upscale companies like Cruz del Sur use better buses, which shortens the journey and significantly improves comfort. Cruz del Sur departs twice during the day and twice at night from Arequipa’s main bus station each day.
